“We are Bryn and Jeffrey of Ellsworth Wines. From the DC suburbs in Maryland, we moved to California to pursue passions of wine making and farming. We live in Penn Valley California, where our 1.25 acres home vineyard and winery is located.”

“Ellsworth wines is our shared vision of participating in the vineyards ecosystem. We do all of our work by hand: pruning, canopy management, spraying (elemental sulfur), harvest, weeding, destemming, etc. We strongly believe in promoting biodiversity and improving soil health, operating no-till and without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers.
In the cellar we ferment with native yeasts and do not use any commercial wine making products, rather we guide the wine in making itself. We do not fine, filter, or pump our wines. Our wines are raised in used French oak barrels and spend time in stainless steel tanks before bottling.”
“We were fortunate to start our small business by connecting with various land owners in Nevada County, CA creating relationships and exchanging our labor for the fruit the vineyard produces. We currently farm 7 vineyards all in the northern part of gold country in the Sierra Foothills.”
