frenchtown Farms

North Yuba, California

North Yuba is one of California's most obscure AVA. Frenchtown is located on a steeply-sloped, rocky, and remote mountain terrain, with vineyards at altitudes ranging from 1600-2300 ft. They experience warm days that bake the granite slopes and cold, windy nights that create powerful, tannic, acid-driven wines.

North Yuba is comprised of the communities of Frenchtown, Oregon House, and Dobbins, located about one and a half hours northeast of Sacramento. It is a wild, untamed land, inhabited by humans and our livestock, as well as deer, rabbits, mountain lions, bears, coyotes, and rattlesnakes and a multitude of other creatures. Although the terroir makes farming a challenge, the community produces wine, olive oil, meat, and veggies.
